Get to know the new U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA)!
Featuring a brand new look and a renewed mission focus, the SBA offers everything from FREE business counseling, to guaranteed business and disaster recovery loans, to federal government contracting.
The new SBA is focused on helping you grow your small businesses.
We hope you can join us at the CBBA’s June Networking Luncheon featuring a keynote presentation by ALTHEA A. HARRIS, Assistant District Director for Marketing & Outreach (Area 1) at the SBA’s
U.S. Small Business Administration’s South Florida District Office. Come meet Althea and learn about all the ways that the SBA can be a valuable resource for your business.
Althea A. Harris has been helping businesses for 25 years.
Early in her career she traveled worldwide in support of small and medium-sized exporters. Then she helped small business owners compete for federal contracts while at the U.S. General Services Administration.
Having held several positions within the SBA office in Miami since 1999, Althea now serves as the Assistant District Director for Marketing & Outreach for Area 1. She coordinates and conducts marketing and outreach in 6 of the District’s 24-county territory and advocates on behalf of the half-million small business owners in those counties. She is also the Faith- & Community-Based Initiative Coordinator.
A graduate of Howard University and the University of Miami School of Law, Althea is also active in her community currently serving as a Board Member for Miami Youth for Christ and on the Missions Committee of Christ Journey Church in Coral Gables. She has also shared her time and talent with the Boards of the Girl Scouts Council of Tropical Florida, the Miami-Dade Economic Advocacy Trust, the Coconut Grove Collaborative, Inc., and as a member of the Florida Bar’s Grievance Committee, ensuring the responsible, ethical, and professional conduct of South Florida’s attorneys.
A Washington, D.C. native, Althea shares her life and love with her husband Robert N. Harris, a commercial litigation and labor and employment litigation attorney in Miami and their four wonderful children.
