ABOUT

The Cybrarium, a one-of-a-kind public library that breaks the mold of traditional learning, offers an exciting blend of cutting-edge technology and service delivery. Located in newly redeveloped Downtown Homestead, a bustling destination for entertainment, dining and retail, the Cybrarium presents a modern approach to education and enrichment.

An innovative children’s space and prominently located open theatre educate and inspire while a Steampunk floor featuring an 1896 Chandler and Price letterpress, unique art and design, offers a portal to a fantasy world where technology meets literacy. A virtual reality cube, makerspace, STEAM kits, launch pads, laptops and hotspots bring additional excitement to exploration and learning.

Part of the Downtown Homestead redevelopment project, the Cybrarium is the vision of the Homestead City Council, who voted to establish the Cybrarium as a municipal library in 2019. Opened on March 18, 2021, the 23,800 square foot multi-floor library boasts distinct spaces for adults, teens and children.

The Cybrarium features:

  • Children’s Theater the perfect place for little ones to attend story time, dress up in character for children’s plays and connect with peers.
  • Steampunk Lounge themed area with custom installations and art pieces where teens and adults can check out a good book and tech devices, or study
  • VR Cube incredible space where guests can go on virtual journeys and explore virtual reality educational experiences
  • Makerspace ideal for the creative type, the collaborative workspace offers 3D printing, interactive workshops, and more
  • Multi-lingual collection of books, audiobooks, DVDs, including more than 34,000 physical items and a robust digital collection.
  • Comfortable seating for 94 guests
  • 37 computers/laptops/Chromebooks for public use and free high-speed WiFi
  • One large program room that can accommodate up to 49 people
  • One medium program room that can accommodate up to 16 people
  • Quiet study rooms
  • Book Mountain a spectacular interactive sculpture rising from the ground to the second-floor ceiling solar system that speaks to the wonders found within the pages of a book.
