Who we are
Vision Statement
Main Street Vision Statement The Homestead Main Street works in full support of the goals and mission of the Community Redevelopment Agency and the City of Homestead, preserving the unique history and look of the downtown while actively pursuing business opportunities that will enhance and revitalize the district.
The Homestead Main Street service area is 100% within the boundaries of the CRA district. By increasing community appreciation for the downtown district through a successful program of activities and events, both residents and non-residents alike have become frequent and repeat visitors to the district.
Major projects have energized the downtown: The new City Hall, new Police Station, refurbished Seminole Theatre, new Homestead Station and plans for a refurbished Losner Park all contribute to the vision of a new and exciting downtown while still respecting the history and charm of the Historic District.
New businesses, including restaurants and performance venues seeking to relocate into downtown call upon Homestead Main Street for information on available property and assistance in the relocation process.
The new companies we hope to attract will contribute to our vision of a strong and vibrant entertainment and arts district that will serve the growing Homestead community.
Mission Statement
Our mission is to use the Main Street Four Point approach to make Homestead Main Street a vibrant center of economic and cultural activity.
The Main Street Program is the vehicle that will build public and private stakeholders, encourage community pride and capitalize on the unique physical assets of our nationally designated historic district to encourage downtown revitalization and investment.
Homestead was accepted into the National Main Street program in 1993, following the devastation of Hurricane Andrew that leveled much of new construction in the City but did not destroy the downtown. Roofs were replaced and buildings that were constructed in the teens, 20’s, 30’s and 40’s were repaired, once again bringing the downtown back to life
